- You must notify the Office of any change affecting your eligibility for the allowance within eight days of the change occurring, using the prescribed form.
- If it is established that a person granted temporary protection no longer meets the conditions for receiving the allowance, the Office will stop the payment of the allowance.
- The Office may, on the basis of the changes you report or on its own initiative as required by law (ex officio), initiate a procedure to verify your eligibility for the allowance.
- If the Office determines that you have received the allowance when you were not entitled to it, it will decide ex officio that you must repay all unduly received funds.
- Income taken into account includes, among other things, child benefit, reimbursements from active labour market policy measures and pensions, regardless of their amount.

As a person granted temporary protection residing in an accommodation centre or other accommodation facility where meals are provided, you may apply for an allowance if you do not have sufficient means of subsistence, do not possess property (assets), and do not have persons in Slovenia who are legally obliged to support you.
What is an allowance and who is it intended for?
The allowance is a form of financial assistance that the State grants, under certain conditions, to persons granted temporary protection who reside in state accommodation facilities.
It is intended for socially disadvantaged persons granted temporary protection who have no income, benefits or property and no persons legally obliged to support them.
What is the amount of the allowance?
The amount you receive depends on your age, the number of your family members and the period for which temporary protection status has been recognised. The monthly allowance amounts to 30% of the basic amount of the minimum income. Women over 63 years of age and men over 65 years of age are entitled to 55% of the basic amount of the minimum income.
Two years after the recognition of temporary protection status, your allowance is reduced by half.
The minimum income amount is adjusted in accordance with the cost of living in Slovenia. The current amount of the minimum income can be checked on the GOV.si website.
How is the allowance paid?
The allowance may be paid into your bank account or in cash for a period of six months. It is paid by the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants, which also issues you a certificate for this purpose stating the period for which the allowance has been paid.
What conditions must I meet to obtain the allowance?
You are entitled to the allowance if you meet the following conditions:
- You have been granted temporary protection status in the Republic of Slovenia.
- You reside in an accommodation centre or other accommodation facility where meals are provided to you.
- You have no income, benefits or property that are taken into account when granting financial assistance.
- You are not supported by persons legally obliged to support you.
- You are registered as an unemployed person with the Employment Service of Slovenia provided you are eligible to register in this register.
How does the procedure for obtaining the allowance work?
Complete the Declaration by a Person Granted Temporary Protection on Eligibility for the Allowance.
Submit the Declaration to the Government Office for the Support and Integration of Migrants – either in person or by post.
The Office will grant the allowance and issue you with a certificate confirming this.
